G Club Penang Cyclists chairman Datuk Dr Lim Seh Guan advised those who have not exercised in a long time, to warm up first before embarked on any strenuous exercises especially cycling and hiking uphill.
“For the last few months, many people have not been exercising much and the heart is not conditioned to be stressed too suddenly.
“If you are above 50 years old, your body is not as fit as the young ones and it may be worsened if you are suffering from diabetes or hypertension which are common in this age group. The heart vessels maybe narrowed and easily blocked or an abnormal rhythm of the heart causing a sudden heart attack can happened if push to its limit.
